158      ANN VASEY, Vagrant born Durham. From the age of two to fourteen she lived with her aunt at Monfield, near Darnton, Yorkshire. She was then hired to JOHN WALKER of Bishop Auckland, Durham, and served him for a whole year and a half.1756 [KSB Midsummer 1756/23].

 

218      MARY HALL, Rogue and Vagabond, widow of THOMAS HALL lately in HM service, aged 28, and born in Waterford, Ireland. THOMAS died five months ago, and his last legal place of settlement was at Whitby, Yorkshire. 1762 [KSB Midsummer 1762/261].

 

220      JANE WEAK, Rogue and Vagabond, widow of ROBERT WEAK, AGED 37. The place of her last legal settlement was in the parish of Darlington, Durham, where her husband was also legally settled. 1762 [KSB Midsummer 1762/281].

 

243      SARAH HENDERSON, Rogue and Vagabond, born Barnard Castle, Durham, the place of her father’s settlement. She was servant to the Earl Darlington at Raby Castle about two years ago but after five months returned home to live with her father. She left Barnard Castle on 18 May 1764 and was hired by DANIEL PLUMER, Farmer, of Fossit Fen, Cambridgeshire, on 8 June 1764 at 50 shillings per annum. In May 1765 she was dismissed due to her ill health and because she is now ill, she is applying relief. 1765 [KSB Epiphany 1766/121].

 

449      JANE THOMPSON, Rogue and Vagabond, born Yarm, Durham. About 27 years ago she married JOHN THOMPSON of Northallerton, North Riding of Yorkshire, joiner. He is now dead and his last legal settlement when he died was at Northallerton. 1776 [KSB Epiphany 1777/471].

 

491      AMBROUS COOPER, Vagabond, aged 46, born Barnard Castle, Durham, where his parents were legal inhabitants. Has not been an apprentice or a hired servant to gain any other settlement than the above. 1778 [KSB Epiphany 1779/161].

 

538      ELIZABETH COLLIN, Widow, Rogue and Vagabond, born Sherworth,  near Darlington, Co. Durham. After living in several services she married JOHN COLLIN of the Yorkshire Volunteers, on 28 March 1780, at Stockton on Tees, where her husband (who is now dead) was legally settled. 1780 [KSB Epiphany 1781/251].

 

561      ANN BULMAN, Rogue and Vagabond, born Whitby, Yorkshire, About seven years ago she was hired to be servant to Captain OUR who lived at Hermigate Bridge, parish of Southwark, Surrey for wages of 5 guineas and 20 shillings for Tea. She served 2 years in that service and her last settlement is at Southwark. 1781 [KSB Midsummer 1781/251].

 

664      THOMAS DAY, Rogue and Vagabond, born Lynn, Norfolk, but he was bound as an apprentice to JONATHAN SAUNDERS at Whitby, Yorkshire. 1783 [KSB Epiphany 1784/201].

 

670      JOHN COPELAND, Vagabond, aged 53 years. His legal place of settlement is in the parish and corporation of Richmond NR Yorkshire, obtained by serving a 7 year apprenticeship to Mr RICHD RAIN of Richmond, Bricklayer. 1783 [KSB Epiphany 1784/261].

 

758      ROBERT JOHNSON, Rogue and Vagabond, born at Brocklesby, Lincolnshire. At the age of 16, he was bound apprentice to JOHN TAYLOR, Roper, of the parish of Whitby, Yorkshire, and served him seven years. 1784 [KSB Epiphany 1785/8].

 

774      WILLIAM LANGTON, Rogue and Vagabond. He is aged 15 years and his legal place of settlement is in the parish of Barnard Castle, Durham. 1784 [KSB Epiphany 1785/521].
