M I IndexesWe have started to collate some of our Monumental Inscription Indexes here. This is an index to names that were found on headstones where a date was given for death or burial. This index does not include names of relations to the deceased such as father, mother, husband, wife nor details of occupation, place of birth etc which are included on so many of the memorials. However, under notes, you will find listed those who died in World War I and World War II, on War Memorials (WM) or overseas (O/S). From information given on the memorials, some women have been entered under both maiden and married name. NB. Stones indexed here may no longer be legible nor still exist. No part of the transcripts was checked against entries in the parish burial registers so these should be consulted as the inscriptions have been transcribed ‘as seen’. Due to the erosion and damage to stone surfaces, some of the information may not be accurate, especially with numbers. Indecipherable figures or portions of names are replaced by three dots or if questionable, enclosed in brackets e.g. 18… or 18(?)9 or 18(3)9 For a copy of the full transcripts please see Publications listing and order from Cleveland FHS. The records which are searchable are as follows below:
