- I'm looking for information
on the HAY (also spelt as HAYES or HAYS) family of
Kirklevington and their links with Marjorie CAMPION b. 1915 in
Truro, Cornwall. In particular Margaret Ellen HAY b. abt.1872 in
Hartlepool, married Ernest Edward CAMPION of Devon in 1901 and
Edna HAY b.1875 in Yarm, emigrated to the USA in 1907 and
subsequently married John CURRY. Both Margaret and Ellen HAY
played an important part in fostering Marjorie CAMPION b.1915 in
Truro, Cornwall. Marjorie CAMPION spent time in Kirklevington in
1922, moved to Connellsville, Pennsylvania, USA under the care of Edna
CURRY (nee HAY) then returned to Kirklevington in 1930.

- George BELL is my maternal GGFather and
was I believe born in 1837. In 1861 he was a Railway Porter aged about 23
and he was married to Grace SENIOR born in Horbury, nr Wakefield in
the west Ridigof Yorkshire. I assume he came to Horbury just about 1860 and
he had a 7 Mths old daughter named Grace. He lived in Horbury with his
wife, brother Richard BELL and Brother-in-law William SENIOR,
a cripple. In 1871 with wife
aged 34 he lived in Railway Cottage, Southowram, Halifax with sons Henry,
Fred ( My GFather), Thomas and William. Grace appears to have died. My search is for
Georges family in Durham and any help would be appreciated. All my research
is via e-mails as I am an amputee and confined to a wheelchair so cannot
visit sources in person.

- Does anyone have any information on Ada CALVERT
dob. C1685 and her brother-in-law Adam CALVERT C1690.
They born in Whitby, as far as I know, and Adam had a daughter,
Bridget, dob.1718 and son, Adam dob.1720, both born in Egton,
North Yorkshire. Ada had children, Ralph 1713, Adam C1714, David
C1715, Bridget C1715/16,who married Richard COCKRILL in
1739. (David & Bridget were possibly twins), all born in the
Goathland and Whitby area. I believe that Ada and Adam were
related to the CALVERTS of Runswick, who were mostly
fishermen and women. I am sure there is a connection, which I am
trying to find for a family in Australia. The slightest piece of
information would be helpful. Thank You. Norman.

- I am hoping that there is somebody out there who could help me to find the
marriage of William RAYNER and Jane ROBERTSHAW. I
know that their first daughter, Elizabeth, was baptised in Great Smeaton in
1834. I have been totally unable to find any marriage record. Subsequent
children were all born in Girsby. RAYNER can be spelt RANNER,
RAINER, REYNER.
3rd May 2007 - I have a school photograph taken by the Scholastic Photo Specialists, Hartlepool, which included my mother and a boy in the first row is holding a monitor board which says 'Brougham Council Senior Dept. Std 3a 1920'. Unfortunately my copy has been defaced and I would like to replace it. In Darlington, the library seems to have all the records and school photographs but I have asked at the Hartlepool library and the Hartlepool museum alas they do not know who would hold these records and photographs. Can anyone help? |
